Mundane Makeup Essentials

Since I’m someone who travels day-to-day via commute, and usually via jeepney, touchups are essential for me. When I go out on the daily, I bring a little makeup bag with me with my necessities to survive the day. The goal here is to still look presentable and fresh despite the hot and humid weather plus the heavy traffic in Manila. I’d like to share my mundane makeup essentials that never leave my bag.

My makeup bag is just a little transparent pouch that was gifted to me. This is perfect because I can easily identify where the items are without having to rummage through it. It's the perfect size for me because it fits my everyday necessities but still has space for when I need to bring more items.

First thing’s first, I have oily skin. Blotting papers are an oily skin type girl’s best friend. This is my first step when touching up! I use the Gatsby Powdered Oil Clear Paper to lessen the accumulated oil on the face and to be able to start with a pretty good slate for the next steps.

Another favorite of oily skin types is an oil-control powder. I specifically use the Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder when setting my makeup and for touchups. This works well for me and really moderates the oil production of my skin when wearing makeup.

A new addition to my makeup bag is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. I just filled a small spray bottle from the actual packaging just to make it easier to bring with me. To be honest, I’m not a fan of the smell. But it does make my skin feel refreshed after spraying. So I make sure I spray this after all the touch-ups to make sure that everything is set in place and my skin feels and looks fresh.

Another essential is lip balm. Having chapped lips is the worst. Sometimes I forget to put on a lip mask before going to bed, so lip balms are definitely a must. I’m currently using The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture-Protect Lip Care. This is not my favorite lip balm and I find it too waxy, but I’m just using it all up just so I can find a better one. (It will be a waste if I just throw this away, hehe.) If you have any recommendations for a good lip balm, please let me know!

The next three products are lippies, and I have this weird thing where I don’t really use the same product when reapplying. I’m a person who hates reapplying lip products which is why I carry three different types of lip products with me so I can pick one depending on my mood. If I feel like going for a tint, I use the Peripera Airy Ink Velvet in #8 Glimpse Brick Brown. For lipstick, I use the L’oreal Color Riche Matte in 220 Chocolat Rouge. And last, for lip gloss, the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow.

Those are just some items that I carry with me on the daily. When I go out on events or parties, I just add a powder foundation and concealer in my makeup bag and I’m all ready to go. I hope this is something that is of help to you! If you have any recommendations for products that I should try, or even your go-to products when touching up, please let me know. I’d love to learn more about makeup!
